As part of National Volunteers’ Week 2025, Up for Yorkshire are thrilled to announce, “Get Stuck In!”, a free and engaging event designed to connect local residents with rewarding volunteering opportunities.
The event will take place on Tuesday, 3rd June, from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Selby Abbey.

“Get Stuck In!” invites individuals from across the community to explore diverse ways to make a positive impact. Attendees will have the unique chance to meet local organisations face-to-face, all eager to share a wide range of volunteering roles.
“Volunteering is a fantastic way to give back to your community, learn new skills, and meet new people,” says Alison Hartley, Up for Yorkshire Volunteer & Support Officer. “Whether you have specific skills you’d like to share or are keen to learn something entirely new, this event will showcase just how many exciting and varied opportunities there are right here in Selby and beyond.”
The event aims to highlight the invaluable contribution volunteers make to the fabric of local society and encourage more people to experience the joy and fulfilment of giving their time. From supporting community projects to helping local charities, there’s a role for everyone.
Special Offer for Early Birds: To celebrate the spirit of volunteering, the first 50 attendees to “Get Stuck In!” will receive a free £5 voucher to spend at the Abbey Café.
This is a free event, and no booking is necessary. Community members are simply encouraged to drop in at Selby Abbey between 11:00am and 2:00pm to discover how they can get involved, have fun, and truly make a difference.
